After a fairytale proposal and an equally grand sangeet function, Manita and Ekasith celebrated their holy union with a simple gurudwara wedding and an elegant reception party that was a beautiful prelude to their happy life together.
How we Met.
“Ekasith and I were both born and bred in Bangkok, Thailand. We first met at a mutual friend’s wedding where we were formally introduced. We later went to the UK for further studies but never met until we bumped into each other at a friend’s beach party in 2013. That’s when we had a chance to speak at length – till dawn actually and we even exchanged numbers. I asked Ekasith out and was disappointed when he sternly refused. Days later though, he asked me out to dinner and that is how things took off. We continued our long talks through the night, and after nine months of courtship, decided to get married!”
“I knew the proposal was on its way. Ekasith took me to an 8-course dinner at a beautiful restaurant in Bangkok. He had already thought the proposal through and had even asked the chef to hide the ring in an apple that came with my dessert. He then handed me a bouquet of 100 red and white roses along with the dessert and asked me to marry him. It was a beautiful moment that still brings back happy memories of the special day.”
“All our wedding functions followed a theme of simplicity and elegance. Our sangeet décor palette was white and blue which complemented my gorgeous vintage gold anarkali-gown by Manish Malhotra. My make up was matte, sophisticated and went perfectly with the minimal diamond jewelry I accessorized with.”
“Our mehndi was by far the most flamboyant with a gorgeous orange and gold palette. It was an intimate function with just my closest girlfriends all hanging out, having our mehndi applied and chatting non stop.”
“We wanted to celebrate our holy union with simplicity and grace and so we refrained from wearing heavy jewelry and ostentatious bridal outfits. We wore all-white clothing with no make up or jewelry and exchanged our vows in a traditional Namdhari ceremony at the beautiful Namdhari Gurudwara in Bangkok.”
“My Doli was an extremely emotional moment for me. It marked my transition into a married woman, who would now set off and live in her husband’s house. The ceremony was close knit and hosted at home. I wore a bright red Sabyasachi Mukherjee gharara with a dupatta covering my head. I accessorized with some stunning jewelry from Hazoorilal Jewellers, Khanna Jewellers & Malabar jewelers and gold kaleereins.”
“Our reception was hosted at the family owned Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok. The décor was also quite minimalistic with a pink and white palette that contrasted with Ekasith’s dark blue suit. I treated myself to a fairytale evening in an ivory glitter Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga and statement diamond jewelry.”

Wedding planning tips/advice for to-be-weds?
“I would strongly recommend hiring a wedding planner so you can fully enjoy and appreciate your own wedding. When trousseau shopping, short list your favorites at each designer which will help you make your final decision quicker. Research makeup artists and hair stylists well and book them at least a year before your wedding to avoid any discrepancies. Focus on the bigger picture and try and make the wedding enjoyable for yourself, your partner and your family.”
