Anoli Shah Summer/Resort 2017: The Return Of Tie-Dye

Anoli Shah’s Summer/Resort 2017 is an epitome of modern day elegance and a classic fusion of East meets West. This veteran designer likes to experiment with different techniques and Indian crafts. For her resort wear collection 2017, Anoli Shah has made use of the Shibori technique, which is also known as the tie-dye technique in India, along with Ajrakh. Shibori is a very popular form of manual resist dying method in Japan, which is used to produce beautiful patterns on fabrics. It is similar to the tie-dye technique that has become widely fashionable in India over the years and has been a favorite runway trend ever since. Ajrakh is a type of block printing, which uses natural and vegetable dyes. She artistically incorporates both of these appealing techniques to create exquisite designs. This collection includes charming cuts and contemporary silhouettes in organza, chanderi, slub silk and organic cotton. We love the stylish capes and jackets, zardozi pita motifs and the beautiful earthen colour palette.

If you think Anoli Shah’s creations are an epitome of grandeur and elegance, wait till you see the interiors of the store! This charming outlet is reminiscent of old world aesthetics and is exceptional in every way.

After launching her eponymous label in Ahmedabad, in 2011, Anoli Shah has launched a new concept store in Mumbai in collaboration with architectural studio, Design Space. This brand new fashion emporium is going to be an Indian shopper’s dream paradise!

Mostly Inspired by Gujarati architecture, the interiors are enthralling and will captivate you with soothing Indian music and tantalizing aromas. The stunning electric dome lamps in gold finish flicker across the ceiling and beautifully complements the concrete washed grey walls. These walls remind us of the Villa Shodhan and Mill Owner’s Association Building, famous for enclosing the French Architect Corbusier’s work of art. The zigzag layout of the store is decorated with stylish pendant lights and wooden artwork, with a sound view of the dressing room. The ready-to-wear collections are displayed in front of the store and the couture section at the back. You will be caught unawares in this delightful space with dazzling glass windows, large mirrors, and enchanting brass artifacts. The grand artifacts, gilded rods and brass scones from which the beautiful ensembles hang artistically, remind us of the age-old temples in Gujarat. There is a golden glow throughout the space, which is significant of shades of gold that the designer incorporates in her colour palette. The fragmentary seating area has a beautiful crimson framework and the furniture is in neutral tincture. The antique cane furniture from Anoli Shah’s ancestral family home in Ahmedabad is truly striking. The fancy accessories and furniture are mostly from the long established traditional markets of Ahmedabad.

With surreal representations and stunning décor, Anoli Shah has certainly impressed us with her vintage designs and antiquity.
